KNX Award 2018 – New Zealand project ‘Camp Glenorchy’ to win the ‘People’s Choice Award’!

On the 20th of March 2018 KNX Association will hold the 12th edition of the International KNX Awards during the KNX Top Event at Light + Building in Frankfurt. The KNX Awards recognise the smartest KNX projects in home and building control around the world (in the 5 categories: International, Energy Efficiency, Publicity, Special and Young), which stand out regarding innovation and technical progress.

The Camp Glenorchy project is one of the finalists.

Here some background information about New Zealand’s first Zero Energy tourist accommodation site:

• Site-wide building automation focused on occupant comfort, energy efficiency, optimising value of solar array by maximising amount of self-generated energy used on site.
• Site-wide monitoring of energy and water at all points of the system, internal environmental factors. These are stored in a cloud data store and made available to multiple user interfaces - including, ultimately, the web.
• In-room Guest App that allows guests to control their cabins, see the impact of their behaviour on energy use, learn about sustainability features, communicate with staff, book local activities etc.

  

• Services Payment App that allows guests to use their room access cards to pay for showers, laundry facilities, EV charging, BBQs.

The nomination shows that KNX as open broad technology is meanwhile an international standard and is used for the biggest and most important projects worldwide.
